Full Confession response to this X:
Most of us fans don’t legitimately full on believe in the Guardians again just cause the movie came out. At least the fans I’ve spoken with don’t. It just struck a chord with a type of people, I included, that now make up the fandom. We’re all attached to our childhoods in a really firm bond that some of us were starting to lose when the movie went to theatres. It reminded us what made our childhoods enjoyable, even if they weren’t all that great in the grand scheme of things. It reminded us to try and hold onto those values the guardians protect; look at the world with wonder, keep our good memories near our hearts, look to the future with hope, to never let our dreams get crushed even if things seem a little nightmarish, and of course to remember that it’s okay to still have a little fun every now and then. Honestly, the movies a big ‘ol metaphor for life. No matter how dark it gets, as long as you keep those parts of your childhood strong and you don’t lose them like so many adults do, and decide to not let the bad dreams scare you off, then you’re gonna make it through in the end. That’s why we “believe”. Because we need to.
